Save all your antistatic bags from the new components your buying for your new computer, store the old parts in those. If you dont' have enough you can order antistatic bags on the internet or get them at a local computer supply store. The big box stores usually don't carry them though.

I'm no expert but I know that static damage is caused when one pin on a board receives a charge that the other pins don't get. This causes a difference in potential across the chips which is what damages them. The idea of an anti-static bag is that it's made of conductive material. Many of the components and pins on a circuit board will be in contact with the bag so any charge causes all the components on the board to go up and down in potential together.

Where ever you store them, keep handling to a minimum and never touch the connector pins, tracks, components or metal parts with your fingers. Always hold the edges of the board or parts of the board that are clear. That will probably be enough but will certainly reduce the risk of damage.

There is little worry on statics and stuff; but those gray anti-static bags are more than enough. I've seen even more abusive ways of handle bare IC boards like Wifi or AGP cards and they end up just fine.

Store the old components in the Anti-static bags (and boxes) that your new components come in.

a million. I found out via taking aside desktops and seeing what each and every area does. 2. Buid it your self. 3. eBay, and hardware agencies (intel, dell, ect...) 4. examine hardware/motherboard on line manuals/complies with. (e.g. seek for it on Google) 5. confident. you could boot from XP disk and delete all partions and then create a sparkling partion and reformat it to NTFS. Then deploy the different OS. ----> confident. Your stressful force has sufficient room. If my 18 gig can carry Win ninety 8, Win95 AND win XP (with plenty much less application), you could carry all yours.
