I'm trying to get my daughter more into reading, but I need some advice on good books for her. She loved Harry Potter And Little women so maybe something along that line.

My little girl is almost 8 but loves to read and because I read books to her she loves to read to her younger sister.
she doesn't get all the words right but she can read quite well i think. I don't think I would have attemted a book like harry Potter at her age, she's a lovely kid...

Here is a really good place to start:

Barnes & Noble

I think that what you are doing with her and encouraging her to read - it's wonderful.

You know I've heard this saying for quite some times.

"Anybody can be a father...
But!
It takes someone special to be a

DAD!!"

Best to you,

I agree she would like Eva Ibbotson. Also, I'll bet she would enjoy the Enchanted Forest Chronicles, by Patricia Wrede. The first one is Dealing with Dragons.

Bruce Coville's Magic Shop books, Jennifer Murdley's Toad and others.

If she liked Little Women, you could also try Caddie Woodlawn, Toliver's Secret, The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle and a fun book for you to read with her would be, Beyond the Western Sea, by Avi. It's actually two books. It's a great read aloud.

Wow...she's advanced for a 7 year old. Here are some other great choices that my students have enjoyed.

The BFG by Roald Dahl
George's Marvelous Medicine by Roald Dahl

Ramona the Pest by Beverly Cleary
Ramona Quimby, age 8 by Beverly Cleary
Dear Mr. Henshaw by Beverly Cleary

Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume

Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt

Holes by Louis Sachar

Esperenza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan

Shiloh by Phillis Reynolds Naylor (there are 3 in the series...great if she likes dogs)

I LOVED all the Little House on the Prairie books when I was her age....it may not be her thing though. They were written by Laura Ingalls Wilder

The Beverly Cleary ones are great. Bunnicula would desire to be fantastic for a solid reader of seven. i could wait a year on the Little abode books - she would be waiting to examine them now, yet i think of she'd take excitement in them greater while she's that little bit older. The Time Warp Trio books are incredibly relaxing, as are the Magic Tree abode books. i'm no longer loopy concerning the Junie B Jones books - in spite of the undeniable fact that plenty could argue... the grammar isn't appropriate adn Junie is genuinely obnoxious and that's portrayed as a solid element. Your daughter's instructor would have another innovations, or an autonomous bookseller. How interesting to have a reader interior the abode!

very advanced reading for a 7 year old -- I went through this with my son who was also very advanced in terms of his ability to read higher level reading material but some of the books were into concepts too advanced, or scary or mature.

The suggestions here are all great (I loved Stargirl too) but I would start looking into some series that she could love and fall in love with the characters. She might be a little young yet for the Beacon Street Girls but you could show her the website and she can get to know the characters there before jumping into the books. (The BSG are all age-appropriate for 9-13 year olds -- no Gossip Girls or Clique-like stuff.)

Maybe the Royal Diaries series?
I loved them when I was that age, along with Laura Ingalls, and Dear America books. Baby Sitters club maybe? I'm not sure if that may be too old but it is definitely a classic. She might enjoy Tamora Pierce, her first books in the Lioness Quartet are fairly easy to understand and they are fantasy.

I LOVED Eva Ibbotson books when I was little and I think she's still writing them (i'm only 17). It's not a series, they are all different. If she liked Harry Potter she would probably like these because many of them are fantasy and have magical themes.

Hope this helps.

OK so when i was her age i enjoyed

animal ark
horse books
moody joody
puppy patrol
jenny dale books

but my favorites were:

Jacqueline Wilson

if you visit your local Library they are sure to have so many selections for her and you won't have to pay...

then she can go back and forth and gives her Independence to choose her own books

i really enjoyed visiting the library and i am sure she will find it quite exciting

and there are all age books as well!!

hope i helped have fun!

Check out Judy Blume, or the Baby sitters club books (or if it's a bit difficult, the Baby sitter's club little sister books).
Hope this helps =]
