You can't be completely rid of internet explorer since Microsoft integrate it as much as possilble into the very fibers of the windows. You can disable it and use browsers like firefox and opera to surf the internet, but IE would still be there in one form or another. IE windows would pop up from time to time because some internet ready programs call out only IE instead of the default internet browser you specify.

you will be hopelessly bored

try getting it to work

To fix IE7
========
Boot windows in safe mode, if windows fails to do this select safe with networking or some other safe option.

In safe mode, using explorer delete the contents of Datastore folder.
Datastore folder is found in
c:\windows\softwaredistribution\ datastore.

This is safe to do as the file will rebuild itself. You may have to do it again 6 months time etc.

reboot computer

In IE7
Open the: –advance tab –
Click - restore defaults
- tick the instruction to empty the temporary files when the browser closes.
- disable phishing filter

Usually this is the trick, but if you still have problems, go to Google and search for “Reset IE7” as for a major shake up fix.

i don't think you can... explorer is a required part of windows.. if you uninstall it just reverts back to a previous version

thats not to say there aren't better alternatives.. i would recommend firefox for sure for browsing needs.. but you can't truly get rid of IE, just choose not to use it

nothing. you just can't surf the internet. you can download alternative browsers like mozilla's firefox or opera, before uninstalling internet explorer. but i do not think that it can be completely uninstalled. because i did it before. i cannot surf using it, but i still can surf using windows explorer.

Well, first, download one of these browsers:
Flock
Opera
Mozilla Firefox
Mozilla
Avant Browser
and then uninstall Internet Explorer.
Then use one of them, all of those are better than IE.
