It boils down to the fact that this is your child and you can name him whatever you want! Don't worry what other people think. If you think Riley is becoming to girly, look at something else. I know several boys called Riley as well as several girls. Do you think your child will be proud of your name? I tested the names I liked by standing on the back steps and calling it out. If I felt silly, I crossed it off the list.

Good luck!

Personally I'm not keen on Riley but there are so many names which are bi sexual does it really matter? Lesley, Leslie; Frances, Francis etc. You could spell it differently to make a point. Even my name Stef is male and female depending on the country. If you like it and it suits your baby then go for it. Funnily enough I have found over the years that if a baby is not given a name which actually suits him/her then people give the child a nickname which sticks. Good luck

I know a couple of little boys named Riley.
It's not uncommon as a boy's name. It's actually really cute.

Congratulations!!
Personally, I would stay away from a name that has become more popular as a girl's name than for boys.
For example, Cameron is a unisex name but still more popular for boys than girl. Avery is another one that has now become more popular for girls than boys.
My son's name is Logan . he is almost six. It is far more popular for boys than girls , however I am glad we gave him a short middle name of Scott and he uses his full name much of the time- especially when writing.
Check out behind the name.com. Great site that shows 1000 most popular names as well as "advanced name search" and a random name generator - and you can check for comments from other people regarding almost any name. I found this very helpful as well.
Good luck.

I am not fond of the name Riley in general but it is MUCH better on boys. Boys need to take that name back, lo.. I think it's awful on girls.

My brother's name is Ryley. I say go for it. It was originally a boy's name, and there is no sense in letting a bunch of trend followers change that.
