sad isn't it.
but for any drug, cosmetics etc etc to pass approval, it has to be tested on animals.
& yes they must use mice because they're easy to breed & cheaper than guinea-pigs.

scientists got fed up of trying to spell guinea and so used mice, although they might be changing them soon because of an increase in illiterate scientists

yes they are cheaper and smaller so they require less upkeep. Also their body structure is similar enough to humans that they are good for testing whether things are carcinogens, toxins, etc.
