I hate it with a passion. I go as far as tell the person to please not call me that. No other name bothers me as much as that one. Just something about it.

Dear is bad enough, but there are other ones that people who don't know me, use as well. It really bugs me... I prefer any term of endearment be from people who know me and hopefully care about me too.

it's a term of endearment if used the right way, but yeah, when it's from someone say in there 90's and thats all they call you, than it bugs me,

Depends who is saying it and how often...My retaliation is to say something back (alot) to them like "pet", "poppet", "muffin", "peach" etc. You will find that person will notice and they ask you why you are saying these names to them. My response of course is to use them as an example :). Works every time
