Yes. You don't have to name the first son after the father. If you have 8 kids, and the last is a boy, you can still name him so and so jr.

Sure why not, my brother in-law was named after his father with the suffix jr, and he was second born.

My partner wanted to do that but i didnt because it is the second son. In my opinion it should be the first born son that has the fathers name followed by jr. But its up to you in the end and if you and your partner want to do this then go ahead. Its what ever makes you you's too happy :)

I think its traditionally the first born that gets the 'Jr' title but if the first doesn't, I don't see why the 2nd can't. Its not illegal I suppose! but what if the first thought later on that maybe he wasn't good enough to get the title?
I think give him his own name and use the same middle name as dad or dad's first name as his middle name.
For example:
If dad is John Phillip Smith
Son is Peter John Smith ... or....
Son is Peter Phillip Smith
Hope that helps...best of luck

I say yes because he still is your son & taking the name of you. Who cares about technicalities. My 2nd born is named after my husband & we still call him Jr.

I say you have sole rights to name your son anything you wish. Using 'jr' is cute.
Congrats on becoming a parent again!
Best wishes

Yes ... Although it was silly. Never understood why the parents didn't make the first one a Jr. ... But yes, you can do that.

Yes. It refers to the name rather than the birth order. The name needs to be exactly the same to be considered "Junior" or "II."

I carnt see why not. Your choice, the registra just signs the birth certificate, i never heard an incident whereas they look at your childs name and dis it or tell you you carnt name he/she whatever your choice is /I would say there should be no problem at all . Go ahead and try it...please let me no the outcome.
