When one of my dogs was about 6 months old he had a dead bird in his mouth as he was coming inside. I didn't have my contacts in and thought it was a thick stick or branch or something and was trying to get him to drop when I squinted really hard and realized what it was before I touched it. Then he gulped it down so he didn't actually come in the house with it, but almost.

I had a beagle bring in HALF a squirrel.
Don't be too harsh with your cat, they think they're being kind by bringing you a present.
