A plc has to publish an Annual Report and this has to contain data about the Company, however this mainly consists of financial performance (turnover, profit etc) .. do some research on 'Company Reports'

(sometimes the Chairmans Statement may give an overview of major contract 'wins', however you will never find the details)

No you cannot check. This is confidential business information, You can only check, for a fee, who the directors are and the state of their accounts. This can be done on line at Companies House.
