YES......But with some reservations.
It's not like it's 'flattening and stretching'. That image is simply a different view of the Moebius strip, from a different perspective, as the the strip revolves. Try it!
From an O (or a Q-like form)....to an S....to an 8....as it revolves. From yet another perspective it can become a ? or a ~ (getting carried away here!).
But you get my drift.
Another point is that the figure of 8 does not actually join at the cross-over. That is also a 2D perspective thing; as in rotating the Moebius strip to where it resembles an 8 , the two different sides of the track are not touching, and are, in fact, travelling in opposite directions if the strip were moving like a conveyer belt. (i.e. the time belt!).
It's really the same dynamic that happens in the micro scale, at the atomic level: It all depends on what angle from which we view it.

No. Describing number 8 would prove that. In the shape of number 8, a common point is shared by the 2 smaller circles. Then, the spreading action would only be experienced by the portion OPPOSITE the common point shared. Then, it is not the secret of the infinite because infinite is defined as the non-stop motion or being of an object. Right from the start, the object did not attain the infinity you claim because not all portions of it spread.

'like a figure 8 is the'???? do you mean 'is that like a figure 8'? if you do then... no. its more a balloon (stupid as it sounds). its still blowing up right now but eventually itll stop and collapse. then therell be another big bang or 'initiation' and life will start over again.

But it's not.
It is a toroid.
That's why there is an empty space in the middle.

It isn't.
The universe has been shown to have a basically spherical geometry.
