just wondering if customers who shop at luxury stores want to get called if we get things in? or do people prefer to receive emails or letters?

I would prefer getting an email over a call. My second choice would be to get a letter over a call. However, I will say having done customer service work in the past, many people do not want to give their email address for of fear of getting spammed!

I think it would be more effective to send letters out of all the choices (even though I said I would want an email). Or you could possibly survey your customers when they are in the store and find out what they would want.

I would prefer Email so that I can look at it at MY leisure. A small shop I go to has brief forms at the counter to fill out if a customer wants to be notified by Email.

You could ask on a form whether someone would prefer to be notified by Email, postcard or via phone & ask them to fill in the info needed to do it.

NO calling! A postcard or email is ok, if the person signs up on the list for that. If they don't sign, then they don't want to be annoyed.

Definitely email - it arrives while I'm at work and gives a welcome break to review what's new. I have received an email one day and later that afternoon gone to buy it.
