Anyone know what this gold mining tool is called? Or a website that carries it? The link is for a youtube video with the machine they use. Thanks for any help. http://youtube.com/watch?v=BENyhGCp9Vw

I have seen one of those before on the Travel Channel show "The Best Places to Find Cash and Treasure".

It was listed in the toolkit as a sluice.

Google image search for sluice and tada!

As it is a home made machine it is called whatever they call it, I hear the name 'gold panning machine' being used, but I am not completely sure.

For a place to buy one, try sending a message to the people posting the movie, maybe they would like to make a little money by selling the tool.

As that proved the best way to get rich from gold-mining.
The miners stayed poor but the shop owners became the great men of the county.

This machine is definitely a type of highbanker. It is a design I have never seen and intend to investigate.

Additional comment: I sent a message to the maker of the video requesting some information about it and will forward that information to you if you would like.

appears to be a modified rocker box combined with a pan/sluice using the action of the pan and sluice instead of water flow. Hard to tell how effective it would be without panning the tailings to determine how much gold was lost using this method.
