yep, athletes today like Alex Rodriguez, Roger Clemens and others don't wanna play unless they make atleast 30M$'s just like past 2 seasons Clemens has gotten paid 30M$'s just to play 3 months of season each time and guys like him in each sport keep becoming more and more losers who care about nothing but getting $ and bein able to do drugs and other stupid dumbass idiotic off field stuff like Ricky Williams, all the Cincy Bengals, Pacman Jones, Mike Vick and many others, and like Kobe wants to do nothing but score every basket for whatever team he's ever on and doesn't care a single bit to win an NBA Title anymore after winning 3 of em with Shaq who led that team to winning the titles 00-02, which is the reason we need to quit lettin immature teenagers go str8 to NBA outta high school which now is a rule, but still is stupid it only has to be 1 year outta high school, NFL's rule is way better bein minimum of 3 years outta high school, which is why if he's gonna be that greedy I think my hometeam Tigers would be just as good without A-Rod just like contending teams in NBA like Pistons, Mavs, Suns, Cavs and Spurs would be way better off not offerin any trade for a selfish ballhog like Kobe, who never gets anyone else on his team envolved in any part of the offense, which is why they r always lazy on both sides of the court and never care to try hard to improve and to develope into solid starters

Right or wrong, we live in a free country. No person is prohibited from making as much money as possible. Now, if you take a step back and give the argument that a baseball player makes 10 million per year and a brain surgeon makes 2 million, sure. That is crazy.
However, what about the rest of American society. No one complains when an actor gets 20 million for 3 months of work on a movie that may very well bomb. Or houw about the cast of FRIENDS who each got $1 million EACH for every episode. My theory is that if David Schwimmer gets $22 million per year, then A-Rod or any other top athlete is a bargain

If I thought I could get $350 million for doing my job, you're darn right I'd turn down $250 million. If the owners pay it, more power to him.
The owners wouldn't pay it if they didn't think they could make money off of it. And if the fans didnt' buy tickets, t-shirts, hats and all that other licensed merchandise, the owners couldn't make it.
Now how many of the "common folks" do you see walking around in A-Rod jerseys? Yankee hats? Lebron James jerseys? Michael Jordon shoes? The very people you claim that are being oppressed are the very people that are keeping the system alive and well.

Crazy? While I am certain that the $350 number being floated around is just the starting point....and he will sign for much less...it is still a crazy number.
BTW...not sure we have the right to complain about it considering we are the dumbasses that continue to pay their salaries by flocking to baseball games in record numbers. Not to mention all the souiveniers we continually snap up, etc, etc, etc,.
The only way this craziness will end is if the fans end it.

Many people seem to have a problem with MLB salaries and I don't understand why. Most team owners are making plenty of money off of their players because baseball is big business. A-Rod and others are being compensated in their market value range based on today's revenue numbers and their contribution/value to the team. Have you ever noticed that baseball is the primary area where people have problems. You very seldom hear anything about a boxer making $25 million for a single one hour fight. or a movie star $20 million for a movie. How about Tiger Woods making about $40 million a year for just lending his name for product endorsements. All of these things are big business and those being compensated are being paid according to their current market value just like all the rest of us are being compensated within our market value range. Most of us would do the same thing if we were offered a substantial increase, in our area of expertise, if it were offered to us

Okay first of all Clemens only got 16 Mil from the stro's his last season. NO, A-rod is not crazy to ask, the owners are crazy to pay. Everyone looking for a job should seek the most pay possible, its up to the business to limit what they are willing to pay. As long as there are fans willing to pay, then the owners will be willing and the players will continue to go free agent. So if you don't like the price, quit watching on TV, quit going to games and quit buying the crap they advertise at the game sand on the Tube.

Should businesses be prevented from earning too much money? What about CEOs who can earn more than A-Rod while failing?
Here's a New York Times article,
"Rodriguez Not Greedy by Standard of Wall St."

I just hope no owner actually pays that ridiculous amount. Could you imagine going to your boss and saying, "I quit, but you can have me back for nothing less than $350/hour." Unless you're a doctor or lawyer or something. And the guy can't even hit when it really matters. Like in the playoffs with runners on base.
