Sandra, this is a great opportunity to volunteer in the community. There are so many needs in every community, so that can help with passing the time.
You can develop hobbies, take some classes, join a gym or swim club, and start keeping a journal. Go http://www.oprah.com She has instructions on how to do a gratitude journal. Get out and have fun with friends, especially other wives whose husbands are overseas.

There are support groups on each military base that offer counselling, support, day care, activities, and alot of the times additional means to contact the deployed member for spouses. Check in at your family support center or squadron First Sergeant or Commander for more information.

I don't think to myself "five more months until he's home" instead I pick something I'm looking forward to within the next week and think "only three days until I see the new episode of House" or "two days until the weekend's here." Focus on things that will happen soon instead of the long period of time between now and when you'll see him again.

There's always support groups on base for spouses. Wives will get together and discuss how they feel, etc etc, and basically, you keep yourself busy with your daily life. There really isn't much you can do, except do what you must and wait until he/she gets back.
