I don't think so... every game leading up to the Colts - Patriots showdown was just practice for them. Redskins LB Randall Godfrey said "I said something to (Belichick) after the game. I told him, ‘You need to show some respect for the game.' You just don't do that. I don't care how bad it is. You're up 35 points and you're still throwing deep? That's no respect." According to Godfrey, coaches like Joe Gibbs would never do such a thing. WRONG! Back in 1983, the Gibbs-led Redskins beat the St. Louis Cardinals 45-7. Then they beat the Los Angeles Rams 51-7 in the playoffs that year. Somehow 52-7 is a lot different than 51-7 when you're not on the team with 7. I have one thing to say to all of you criticizing the Patriots for "running up the score." SHUT UP.

hell yeah he was wrong. he should show some respect for Joe Gibbs.
as far as those 1983 scores. Joe Gibbs was not running up the score. when those games got out of hand Joe ran the ball up the middle with john riggins repeatedly. however neither of those teams could stop the run and riggins continued to break long runs.
i doubt Joe Gibbs would ever run up a score.

I think running up the score is perfectly okay in the NFL. I have a different opinion when it comes to high school and sometimes to college games, but a 100 point margin of victory in a NFL game would be fine with me.
You shouldn't disgrace your opponent if they are high school kids or a bad college team, but this is the NFL we're talking about! These guys are the best at what they do, and they should be able to take being on the wrong side of a blowout without whining about it.

Clearly, he did. And its rather stupid to do so, as if Brady gets hurt that team as a small chance to win the supwerbowl. Personally, I hope they keep Brady in and he gets a sack that knocks him out the rest of the year. Then it will be one less team my team has to beat. I will love to see the rest of you saying how great Belichick is after Brady cant get up.
Now, I am thinking that if a team has 50 point lead, there should be a mercy rule. Heck, I do that in Madden, its only fair.
Probably wont ever happen because the fans would be pissed that went to the game, and they would lose tons in advertisements.

First of All I'm a Patriots Fan (From Massachusetts).
Here's My Opinion:
If it's a legal play you can run it... I don't care if your up 42-0 and you go for a fake fg... As long as it's legal you can do whatever you want... If your up 42-0 Go ahead and throw an 80yd TD pass... Here's the problem... People are going to hate you for doing it... Only beacause of the made-up "Showing Class Rule" ... I mean your up 42-0 and obviously the other team sucks why do you have to shove another one in there face to show them up? It's like if your up 11-0 in the 9th inning of a baseball game why are you stealing bases?... But hey it's legal... so do what you want... but you know your just making people hate you... But I don't care if people hate us... As long as we win... that's all that matters.

Offense score.
Defense stop the scorer.
As simple as that.
Save the courtesy after the game.
Players are corporate employees, they are there to do a job. If your defense is to weak to stop them, so be it. Don't be a whinny little girl.
THIS IS THE PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE!!!
Not Peewee
You want New England not to run up the score?
STOP THEM!!!
And I hate the Patriots.
Raiders Rule!!!

If they can't stop the Patriots offense, the teams need to look at their coaching, obviously something is missing there.

No, hopefully this will make Gibbs realize the game has passed him by and he needs to retire.

i HATE the pats, but i dont think its a bad thing. its not smart or classless but its not bad. if their d cant get you off the field then gibbs needs to find someone who will. hopefully someone breaks bradys neck though. bellicheck should be putting in his 2nd and 3rd stringers in and let them get some snaps in. it would do more good then letting brady pad his stats.
