Funny you ask that question. I was on a date tonight with a Brazilian girl and I said I liked auto racing. She asked me if I knew who Ayrton Senna was because that was her favorite driver (or pilot as she put it). Then rattled off a bunch of other Brazilian drivers and other F1 guys. How cool is that! Of course I know who Ayrton Senna was, great driver and such a pitty to lose talent like that.

Yes, I know who he is..I was living in Europe when he was driving, this the best best Brazilian to even get into a F1 car, and in my heart this is still the best F1 driver ever...so sad he left us way way way before his time. He will always be my favorite F1 driver forever, I was very lucky to have a friend that was a F1 reporter when I lived in Europe, I'm so happy I got to meet this great driver...Why oh why was he taken from us I still wonder to this day..Yes I know who Ayrton Senna is the greatest F1 driver ever....

To those who do not know F1; Senna was the Muhammed Ali of Formula 1. A revolutionary for the sport, he changed everything.

The greatest and most remmebered, not just for his exploits on the track. Like Ali, he was a huge personality off the track. But unlike Ali, not outrageously arrogant. He had the same Aura, his Genuis came through in interviews as well as on the track.
In 1993 he was the highest paid sportsman in the world, but he offered to drive for FREE just to have a better car. A 16 million dollar pay cut just so he had a chance at the title. He also donated millions to charity. Traits that furthered adeared him to the fans.

He is regarded as the single most talented driver ever, he was however a slightly flawed Genuis.
He also pushed, pushed, pushed, even if he was 30 seconds in the lead he would want to keep setting fastest laps. He had to win, he do some ruthless moves to defend positions and really take risks others might not.

He is absolutely regarded as the best ever qualifyer of an F1 car. He drove inferior cars to many pole positions. Check you tube for his skills.

He would be remmebered today to probably some near the same level if he was alive. However he was immortalised when his career was cut short as he crashed and died whilst leading the San Marino Grand Prix, 1st May 1994.

3 Drivers World championships (only bettered by Prost-4, Schumacher-7 and Fangio-5.

41 wins (only bettered by Prost-51 and Schumacher-91)

65 pole positions (only bettered by Schumacher-67)

Of course I know who he is. Senna is a legend, he was a Brazilian formula 1 driver who won the championship 3 times and was known for his crazyly fast times in qualifying that got him what like 65 poles in his career. The guy was very passionate and a nice guy too. He donated money to charities that nobody knew until it was unveiled after his death. He died at the race at Imola after the safety car drove on for about six lap aledgingly caused the brakes or was it the tyres that turn cold and contributes to Senna's crash. Senna was also known for being able to drive subconsciously. Fast was not enough for him, it never was. He wanted to be better and faster.

i can't believe you posted that on this section!!!! anyone who is remotely interested in F1 would know that Ayrton was possibly the best driver in the history of the sport. unfortunately his life was cut short, as was Roland Ratzenburgers, in a horrific accident.

Yes. He was a Formula 1 driver. Da Vinci was a painter and Lawrence Olivier was an actor. Oh, and Albert Einstein was a fairly smart person. Apparently.
