i started school and im on track for pre-med. im already taking upper division classes for french and spanish. french being my native language. how good does this look on a resume? or for pre-med?

Unless they heavily analyze your transcript, they won't notice an upper level class on a freshman year.

What they will notice is if you keep going upward each semester. Let's say you're in an upper level French Lit (we'll call it French 301) and next semester you do 302, then 401/402, then maybe some teaching language courses at the senior upper level and then maybe use senior privilege to take graduate French in your senior year -- that gets noticed.

If you stop at French 301 your Freshman year and I take French 301 my senior year, they will see that we both completed French 301 -- that's all.

The point is that it's not where you start out - it's where you finish.

It will look good, what is better though is that you get good grades! If you can handle it, then do it. Remember to stay on track and focus on important classes. Have fun and good luck!
