I need to file a motion concerning my child who resides in MA (I'm in California) and am wondering if this can be done from California. I am on limited funds, and cannot afford to fly out there to file the motion then go back the next month for the court date. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Yes, it can be prepared and filed by mail. You should file an attorney in MA to help you by telephone and mail.

Hire an attorney in Massachusetts to represent you. He can prepare the documents, mail them to you, have you sign them in the presence of a notary, and mail them back to him to be filed.

The attorney will advise you on whether or not you need to appear in person for your next hearing.
