talk to god, call a friend, sleep, think about the good thats gonna come eventually!! im the same way sad and depressed when you talk to friends it helps a lot!!

If you're writing this because you are sad or depressed, I'm truly sorry for you. I've been up and down for the past almost 2 years. Two years ago this month, I lost my mother and in May of this year, I lost a precious sister. I get down so badly sometimes, I just have a good cry. I tend to think about the sadness of their passing, which I shouldn't do so then I try to think of happier times. Some people need to speak to a professional and maybe think about medication. That is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Sometimes people can't do anything at all to get out of the sadness or depression. Then again, sometimes time itself is a healer. Sometimes people pray to God to make them happy. God doesn't make us happy, He gives us the ability to learn what makes us happy and we're to learn to use that knowledge. Pets are so good to have around if you're sad or depressed because they sense when you're down and they will do anything they can to make you happy, even if it's snuggling up with you or licking you until you're wet. I know I've rambled but sadness and depression is a serious thing and I know how badly I feel when it hits me. Whether it's you or anyone out there, I wish you the best.

Some of the positive things I do are: meditate, workout, pray, surf answers, talk to someone,
Some of the negative things I've done are: sleep, eat, shop & cry.
I guess it depends on where I am in the process. Early on the initial shock sometimes results in me shutting down/withdrawing. But after some prayer & meditation - I often rebound & I'm back to being a productive person. Just to clarify - crying isn't necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes it's needed to cleanse or purge the hurt from your heart.

Find things to occupy your mind. Get out and get active, mentally or physically. Just taking a walk or reading a good book helps. You can't always make the things that make you depressed go away but it can make it easier to get it off your mind for a while. Even volunteering your time to help others does wonders for a persons mood.
All the others ideas above are good too!

Make a mental list of all those things which you keep to yourself and try to expose the ones that are least likely to cause you any pain. Depression is the result of too much compartmentalization of matters.
Find someone that you can trust and let the ideas flow.

Whenever I am feeling down, weather it be severely or acute I always watch a movie and for those few hours I can delve into the characters and their lives and for some reason it always cheers me up. I guess it gives me a weird science of hope that everything will eventually work out... just like they do in the movies.
Lame, I know.
[and if watching movies for some reason doesn't help, I sleep and normally I wake up feeling less upset.]

I go out and have a hell of an angry workout. Then I go to a grill house and order a huge rack of ribs. I don't know why that evens me out, but it does.

buy ur favorite ice cream and download ur favorite TV show(s) to make a Marathon and/or buy a whole butch of ur favorite movies and stuff like that. hope my advice helps and i know mainly kids, pre-teens, and teens b/c of school and they don't know what to do so i think this question deserves a star!!!
