The idea of so-called "chemtrails' causes great mirth among people who know a little about atmospheric physics. Without going into the details of how and why condensation trails (or contrails) form let me point out a major flaw in the chemtrail hypothesis.

Any gases or particles released high in the troposphere, which is where these trails are found, are going to take a very long time to reach the surface - if they ever do. Not only that, if they do reach the ground it will be hundreds if not thousands of kilometres away from where they were released. Putting stuff into the air at those altitudes is a very inefficient and haphazard way of affecting people on the ground and you cannot determine who is going to be affected or where they are. So-called chemtrails over the USA (if they were chemtrails) might be of some concern to people in the Azores or possibly Europe but they cannot affect people in the USA.
