I don't understand what is so "sick" about it, but, as you probably know, the commercial was written by a 26 y/o Chinese citizen with the YouTube screen name of "madeinamoy."

The song does have a Chinese folk tune sound to it. Yo-yo Ma is a world renoun cellist from China who plays typical symphony orchestral things, but also has quite an interest in world music.

He may have composed it, but the playing does not sound like him.

If you listen to the sound track to "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," you will hear the similarities immediately. Yo-yo Ma plays the cello to sound like a Chinese instrument of some sort. You can tell it's a cello, but the style is definitely Chinese.

As to the exact composer? You might have to listen to ALL the folk songs from China to find that out! Good luck.

Please email me if you get the answer. Now I'm curious.

ADDED NOTE: I just looked up the sound track and Tan Dun is the composer.

Ta-daaaaaa!
