I was wondering if you think that dancing the salsa is erotic? Do you think that other dances are more erotic? What gestures or mouvements are more erotic, and waht is the signification behind them?
I would also like to have different opinions, from people who dance professionnaly, for pleasure or how are beginners and/or have never danced it but at least have senn people dancing the salsa...

Ahhaha, I never heard of salsa being referred to as an erotic dance. Sexy and flirty - yes. Erotic - no, far from it. It's a social dance, how are you supposed to be erotic with strangers in public?
I used to dance salsa when I just discovered ballroom for myself 6 years ago. Now I find salsa the way it's danced in most places to be too sloppy. I like Mambo, the original version of salsa, much better. Still, I find way too fast for expression of sensuality.

I have never learned to salsa although I would like to learn- and I believe you CAN learn on cruises---I think it's a very erotic dance because the moves are quite sexual, at least I think they are or maybe I should say provocative and remind me of "flirting" with your lover!!!

In all types of dance, there are times when men and women have to touch each other to convey a feeling or mood. May I remind you, it is your job as the dancer to make the audience feel connected to the movement. You need to figure out how to disconnect your own feelings/passions and connect with the technique of the dance and your partner. Focus on the style of dance, NOT THE GIRL!

It is HOT. I enjoy watching it and I enjoy doing it. However, there are many dancers today that are very "stiff" in their dance. They know the steps but there is no "flow" to the dancer. They seem to be rigid. Dancing is a liquid flow, only the best dancers can make it look smooth.
For that reason I am very disappointed in the dancing contests on TV. They are mostly mechanical.

Salsa and rumba share the same basic step patterns, but the latter is at two thirds the tempo of the former, making it much more amenable to sensuality, unless of course you're into the "wham-bam-thank you ma'am" kind of thing.
