Wait, you still have a little time. There is not a whole lot you can do. The hormones from sperm help so you can always have sex =) If you go too far past your due date, your doctor will induce you and that involves giving you medication to thin your cervix out.

You could try using some acupressure points. There is one between your thumb and fore finger in the webbing. when you find it, it will kind have a pinched feeling message the area for about 60 seconds at a time. the other one is about 4 inches above your ankle on your inner calf. do the same as you would for the first. This is said to soften the cervix. You can also do some mildly strenuous activities, but be careful not to hurt your self.

I am 11 days from my due date. I will be check Wed for any dilation/effacement (my OB doesnt check till 39 weeks) but I read multiple places your best chance (although not 100% guaranteed) to not be overdue is to have sex. That and spicy food (since that releases prostaglandins-the same thing found in sperm-to be released in the bowel. Don't, however, drink Castor Oil (although some people say you can)...My OB told me that if you do, it can bring on labor too fast and risk the health of the baby as a result. So light some candles, play some music, grab your man, and make a night of it (every night till you go into labor!!!!) Besides trying to bring on labor, it's coming down to it and you should enjoy the last bit of "couple" time that you can!!!! Congrats and GL!

Oh and stimulate your nipples!!! Work on them (or have your man do it)...it releases oxytocin-which is found in pitocin-which may help as well!!!

I wouldn't do anything that early. You aren't even considered overdue until after 42 weeks, which means you could have more than three weeks left.

The best home-remedy for opening your cervix... sex. Really, there are prostaglandins in semen that are similar to the hormones that cause effacement of the cervix.

Do nothing. Your cervix will open when you are going into labor. Some people dilate sooner than others. It will happen. If you go over due too much your doc will probaby suggest an induction. Until then....no worries. GL! :)

Nothing... sometimes the cervix does not dilate until labor begins and not before. Then it could take hours or be real fast.

Nothing. Enjoy the last few days of not having the responsiblity of a child who cries, keeps you up and nite, dirties his britches and makes you wonder why you ever became a parent when he is about 16 yrs old.
Just kidding!!!!
Enjoy it, its all going to be over pretty quick here.

Get rest!! Take the time now to relax and get some sleep. Unfortunately, your due date is just an educated guess. Its "give-or-take" ten days.

As soon as you relax enough to forget about it for a minute, it will happen. Just be patient.

you need to take walks for about 20 minutes, slowly, of course, about 3 times a day. Go window shopping for an hour.

You can ask your doctor at your next appointment to do a membrane sweep, this will help to speedy up things and get it moving, you can also try bouncing on a yoga ball:) or taking evening primrose oil.
