It may be common to get the "Red Ring of Death," but it's probably not as common as you'd think. If you compare how many people get this issue to how many people actually own 360's, it's really pretty low. Also, as for the other break-down issues, I'd have to say that they're about the same as any other system. Microsoft offers a 3-year plan for the red ring of death that comes automatic with all new system purchases. I'm not absolutely positive of the warranty specs, but I also believe that microsoft ends all non-ring coverage after the first year. If you do end up with the ring, however, Microsoft is very helpful with the matter, and will typically be pretty quick about fixing it. Hope I could help! :)

I have noticed this: 40% dont break, 20% break once 40& keep breaking and breaking, go on xbox forum and you find hundreds of people on 2+ consoles some of which with 6,7,8 or more. I want to stress tho that once you get it, you are likely to get trapped in a cycle, cuz MS shoves old parts into refurbs, so RRod keeps comin up. My calcs are just opinion by the way, but i also will say that maybe not alot of people get RRoD but more Xboxes do. If you notice that people have multiple failures, then if that was spread around to one failure per person the percentage would be unbelievable.

About 1/3 of all 360 have broken down, so not all 360 will break down.

DEPENDING ON HOW OLD IT IS REALLY.
THE EARLIER ONES JUST AFTER IT WAS LAUNCHED
HAD A FEW PROBLEMS.
THE MAIN CAUSE IS HEAT.THE DESIGN OF THE 360
IS NOT IDEAL FOR DISPIRSING HEAT,AND THEY TEND TO OVERHEAT AND BREAK DOWN.
I OWN A 360 MYSELF,AND HAVE HAD SOME PROBLEMS UNTIL I SOLVED IT BY BUYING A INTERCOOLER,
4 EXTRA FANS TO COOL IT DOWN.
EASY TO INSTALL,SNAPS ONTO THE BACK OF CONSOLE AND IS POWERED THROUGH THE CONSOLE ITSELF.BOUGHT MINE FOR £14.99 ON XBOX 360 ACCESSORIES SITE.{WWW.XBOX360.COM} TRY E-BAY ASWELL. GOOD LUCK!!!
