well my point is like this...
the more you are self
conscious/aware...the more careful you are with choosing the things you'll say and do...most of which are not how we really intend to relay or express...but being aware of the impression we would make on others...we do/say them in the most acceptable way....which somehow sometimes give us the feeling of not being true to ourselves and to others.

I know what you mean, but "fake" seems to be the wrong word. Self-awareness makes us aware of our prior thoughts and of the desire to be of integrated thinking, not disjoined ideas. But it can disrupt spontanaity, and spontaneous remarks are often the closest to the heart's way of thinking.

Self awareness is like any other new state of mind. At first everything feels contrived. But as you progress through your life you will eventually be able to be sincere while being self aware. It's like the Theravada Buddhists say, "When you first hear the teachings there are rocks and trees. When you fist understand the teachings there are no rocks or trees. When you finally understand the teachings there are rocks and trees again."

Depends what you mean by fake and awareness.
In my cosmology consciousness is the neurochemical correlation of mind to brain architecture mediated by the personal narrative that you identify with as your self. Awareness is the immediate apperception of the now often claimed by meditators to be free of thought and narrative. If self-consciousness and awareness exist, which they obviously do, they are absolute necessities of a coherent, contextual and consistent reality therefore there can be nothing fake about you. Nothing exists in isolation therefore your self-consciousness and awareness is implicitly entwined in a vast web of context that demands your existence. Find out why.

Self awareness is found outside of the self even when looking into the self. This is what Nature tells us. The self is as a fake but the awareness isn't.

Hmmm... I think I might agree... because we are also aware of others and their expectations of us...Society forces us to conform to certain rules even if they are ultimately beneficial to us... therefore we are not being ourselves all the time...hence we must at least some of the time be fake.
I'm not sure that "fake" is quite the right word for it though; how about unnatural?

I disagree. I wish you could elaborate your ideas. People are fake all the time, whether they know themselves or not... because they are ashamed of the image that they think they would give off otherwise

There is a difference between being "self-aware" and being "self-conscious". They are in fact opposite. Knowing yourself is far different from not being sure enough about what you are to act like yourself for fear of social rejection. The former is confident. The latter is not.

Furthermore, having tact, respect, and empathy for other people doesnt mean youre being fake with them.

Where do you draw the line between being a complex person and being a facade of multiple apparent personalities? You'd still be being yourself if you are sensitive enough to cater to the situation. Not being yourself is selfish... because youre being what other people want of you so as to not alienate them.

Wanting others to like you is healthy. I ask people what they think of me... I know it might come off as self-conscious at time, but it isnt. Knowing how you relate and knowing your place in other peoples lives is different than adopting their opinion and trying to change yourself. I dont base my life on other peoples opinions... but perhaps their image of me might have some truth in the image I allow myself to give off. Be yourself, whatever that is... but just be aware enough to know the effect you have on people.

The sense of self awareness is an essential characteristic of humans. We have to interact in the society consisting of many variety of people. We wish to impress others. But we need not ever depart from truth in our dealings, if we desire a happy life. When we decide to stick to truth, we will never turn fake to any one or ourselves.

Quite the contrary. Self-awareness gives us an opportunity to discover our true selves. While we may discover that we are fake and still have to struggle to overcome our inability to be authentic, without self-awareness, we don't even have the chance to work on that flaw.

You make a very valid point. However, self-awareness makes us more self aware, more conscious of our strengths and weakness, more conscious of our action & more conscious of how our actions affect the lives of others, thus opening many oppurtunities to allow us to be perceived as 'fake'.

I believe self-awareness makes us more real. When you know who you are you can portray your true self to people. If you're not aware of yourself, you'll be portraying what you think people should see.
