try quick-eze and sitting upright when you sleep.

Otherwise, its probably something you will have to put up with. BTW, mothers with heartburn are supposed to have babies with lots of hair! And before anyone says its an oldwives tale, I read an article that suggested after research, that the same chemical/hormonal compound is produced in hair growth and heartburn.

I'll try to find the article and post back later!

Couldn't find the one I was looking for but here are some other heartburn relief ones...

ahh, here it is...

Heartburn and the Hairy Baby
Okay, stop me if you've heard this old wive's tale: There's a pregnant mom I know and she had lots and lots of heartburn during her pregnancy. And now she just had her baby and the baby has more hair than I've ever seen. True statement! (Actually, it is...)
According to researchers from Johns Hopkins University, there is a correlation between the severity of heartburn in pregnancy with the amount of hair your baby has at birth. While the study was small, it may be that the same hormones that control the basics of heartburn related illnesses also correspond to hair growth of the fetus, researchers report in the journal Birth.

sorry, i'm bored and taking up way too much space for my answer i know!!

good luck and I hope you find something that works for you.

You can take Maalox. Keep it in the fridge. The cold helps.

If that doesn't work, talk to your OB. Mine let me take Zantac, and then eventually double the extra-strength over-the-counter dose.

When even that didn't make a dent in it, she prescribed Prevacid. I never had heartburn again, and it went away as soon as I delivered each kid.

I know they say there's a correlation between heartburn and babies with hair, but I have to tell you: I had nightmare heartburn (and I have a high tolerance for pain), and both of my girls were baldies.

Have you tried drinking milk? Milk can help with heartburn a lot, make it more bearable. I had terrible heartburn with my son. I swear, it felt like I had chugged a bottle of Clorox *lol* Tums, Rolaids, Mylanta....none of it worked for me. Milk would make it more tolerable, especially at night. There were many nights I sat up and cried, it was so painful. But I finally talked to my doctor and he put me on a prescription heart burn medication. I don't remember what it's called, but if you would like to know, message me and I'll dig it out of my medicine cabinet. It was safe to use while pregnant, as well. Talk to your doctor.

Edit: I actually went and found it and the medication is Ranitidine, which is also the active ingredient in Zantac. It can be prescribed to pregnant women with severe heartburn. Mine was so severe, it sometimes made me sick to my stomach! This wasn't the choice I wanted to make, but my heart burn was SEVERE.

Looks like your baby will have hair!!! I have always been told if you have terrible heartburn your baby will have hair. Both of mine had headfulls and I had terrible heartburn. Talk to your ob, they may prescribe something for you since over the counters don't work.

I have the same problem (27 weeks pregnant) and I asked the same question. I wanted something that WASN'T medicine and I only really got one answer that wasn't telling me to take a for of meds and that was to drink milk. It works, but a friend to,d me to eat apples or applesauce. I haven't tried apples but applesauce works GREAT!!!!

For me EVERYTHING gives me heartburn and I can't avoid it! The only things that help is milk and applesauce, tums might but I don't WANT to take meds if I can help it!!!!

I know it sounds weird but i've heard the more heartburn you get the more hair your baby will have on his/her head, its never been wrong yet. Go see your doctor because theres these tablets that you can take and they actually work, i think there called quickeze? They taste like peppermint.

I lived on Maalox Max and even took zantac 75 (several of my friends took this also.all of our Dr's said it was OK after 1st trimester) becuase it actually made me sick. I also ALWAYS slept in the recliner lol. Just be sure to talk to your Dr. before taking any meds. Hope this helps : )
p.s. my daughter had tons of hair when she was born!
