Decades are defined by historical events, not by shallow pop culture.

If I had to pick one, I'd say the whole "going green" thing. I remember when I was a little back in school, probably during the late 80's, very early 90's, we all heard about how we needed to save the environment and how no one was actually doing anything about it. A very few people said that if they got that message through to children while they were young, once they grew up, someone would finally do something. Everyone else laughed at that idea. But now, as all of us children have grown into adults, a lot has actually been done. That generation is beginning to make a difference, which I think is really cool..................I was just thinking about that yesterday. Kind of like giving a big middle finger to all those who said we wouldn't amount to anything.

Historical-9/11/01
Political-Possibly the first African American or female president(if Clinton or Obama wins the election).
Pop Culture-Hip hop becoming more popular. Some 80's stuff is back.

People are becoming more aware of pollution and other things that effect the Earth. More technology like I-pods and new computers and stuff like that.

I know you said no historical or political events but 9/11 really did have a huge impact, so yeah.
