Because we have COMMON ancestors. The apes & monkeys you see today are not our ancestors, at best they're cousins a couple times removed.

Everyone must admit that there are striking similarities between men and certain animals! For most people, the leading attraction at the zoo is the monkey house, because monkeys resemble humans more than any other animals do, and it is amusing to watch them! If you were to look at the skeleton of an ape and the skeleton of a person, you would discover many similarities! How can we explain these remarkable similarities?
Evolutionists believe that similarity points to a common ancestry. Animals resemble each other because they are related to each other, and thus they believe that RESEMBLANCE indicates RELATIONSHIP. They would say that man looks like a monkey because he is KIN to a monkey (related to a monkey through a common ape-like ancestor). Man does not look too much like an elephant, but he looks more like an elephant than he does a jellyfish, so this means that man is more closely related to the elephant than he is to the jellyfish (he is a close cousin to the elephant, but he is a distant relative to the jellyfish!). Evolutionists believe that man is related to all plant and animal life because they say that all life began from that first living cell which they think evolved in the primitive ocean millions of years ago. Thus, evolutionists even believe that we are related to the moss we walk upon, to the mosquitoes which bite us, to the worms we fish with and to the fish we catch with the worms! They believe that all living things can trace their ancestry back to that first living cell.
On page 82, there is a diagram of an evolutionary family tree. "The base of the trunk represents unknown, primitive forms of life from which all plants and animals arose" This family tree shows how the evolutionists believe that all plants and animals are related to each other. [Perhaps the teacher or someone in the class could bring in a science book or biology textbook which has an evolutionary family tree.]

cappo359 is absolutely right..... Too many people have a totally screwed up idea of evolution.... Evolution mean change .. IT IS A FACT... science tries to find theories to explain it.
In terms of ancestors.. humans ...apes...monkeys... mice... snakes.. fish etc. all have common ancestors. The degree or relation depends upon how much time has past since we have separated .... so apes and humans are closer in terms of their relationship than say humans and fish... the degree of separation can also be observed within our DNA... the longer the time of separation the greater the difference and the closer the great the degree of similarity. This type of relationship between different kinds of critters can be seen in every life form on this planet... including bacteria, fungi, plants and animals.... So what you end up seeing when you place all the organisms on a page depending upon their relationship to each other is a diagram that looks like a 'branching bush'.... so two organisms that have had a common ancestor are now two separate twigs on that bush.

If cakes are made out of wheat flour and eggs, why do we still have wheat? Simple ... not all of the wheat was changed into cake.
If dogs evolved from wolves, why are there still wolves?
If hybrid roses were developed from wild roses, why are there still wild roses?

Monkeys are NOT the ancestors of modern man. At least not the monkeys that we "still see."
That's like mistaking your cousin for your great-great-grandfather.

For one thing monkeys are only related to humans because they and we are primates. The big difference is that monkeys have tails. Apes don't. We are closer to apes than monkeys. Evolution takes a very long time. Yes, there are different species than man who are related to us but you can also ask the question: Why are there dachsunds and beagles and german shephards and wolves? Why are there so many species of canines instead of just one? Or why are there leopards, lions, tigers, bobcats, cougars and siamese cats and all the other species of cats? Why isn't there just one species of cat?

Well, an evolutionist would tell you that they just haven't evolved into humans yet. My question is if evolution is true, why don't we ever see partially-evolved creatures? To me, it's proof that evolution isn't true.

If your mother is the ancestor of you, why do you still see her?
If your second cousins look more like your great-grandfather than you do, why do you see them?
