I agree that it seems a little too exotic, but if you really must, combine it with a classic name.

I've heard of Taj as in "Taj Mahal" but never really liked it. Taja seems too... 'trying to hard to be unique' ...to me.
Oh and imagine it being pronounce 'tah-zha' the others seems even more weird.

Taja is Hindi and means crown.
I think if you go with that name you will also need a Hindi middle name because I can't think of an Anglo Saxon name to go with it other then then the old stand by: Anne, Marie or Michelle

I think it's pretty. I like it pronounced as tay-zha. Middle names Rae, Marie, Alexis.

My husband has an unusual name -- he insisted that our children have names that, as he put it, "people understand and can spell the first time they hear it and pronouce it the first time they see it." Do you want to be unique because you think it's good for the child, or because it makes YOU seem cool? I can't tell you how many times I've heard kids say they wish their parents had given them "normal" names.
Having said that, it's your decision, do what you think is best.

It could also be pronounced - tah yah-
(When I was in Serbia, they pronounce Js as Ys)
Marie could work as a midle name.
