He is below average, I think 70 is considered mentally impaired. Talk to the people who administered the test, his teachers, and the school counselor to see what is going on, and what can you do to help your child.

It seems that he is a "borderline mental retartenis". (sorry for the misspell) If your son scored a IQ of 70 to 79 then he is at IQ level.

My daughter has been given an IQ of 78, and I have been told she may be able to live independently, but will need support in place all her life. There will be things in life that she won't be able to master. It is true that an IQ of 70 or under is the measure for requiring full time support for life, that these persons are intellectually disabled.

An IQ score is an Intelligence Quotient, which is a measure of intelligence, primarily reasoning ability. The higher the score, the greater the reasoning ability.

Iq test are not always accurate. A genius kid can get lower score than that if he didn't take the test seriously.
