i think its kind of funny/sad how if a white man says the "n" word its a big deal and everyones pissed off but if 2 black people are talking and they can the "n" word its ok and no one cares. its really not fair..and you know if he called a white person "cracker" no one would have cared at all...

not only that but he was talking to his son...not in public..so why shuld it matter? and why are they taping into his calls?

no one looks at all the good he has done for us...only the bad.
and it wasnt even that bad.

but i do agree no one needs to say the "n" word...black or white.

He was just telling his son what he thought. Dog is a very honest man and i don't want to see him harmed in anyway.
I would disown a "son" like that.

I'm sick and tired of white people being afraid to say the word when black people say it all the time and no one gets shook up.
Dog works the streets and he speaks the language of the streets. He didn't mean anything racist by it. Look at the people (all colors) he catches and tries to "fix." That is not a racist man. His son is the JERK OF THE DECADE for biting the hand that has been feeding him. He and his gf should be ashamed!! I hope Dog and Beth let him work for his money from now on. And A&E should be ashamed for jumping on the story and taking the show off the air. If a black person had called Dog a "cracker" it wouldn't have made a blip on the radar screen.

Yes, he should not had said that about the girl. Even if he has his own reasons to. He knows the situation at home, he knows the all the details that we can only speculate, assume, and make our judgements on.
In addition, the man is entitled to have a converstion of any type in his home. It is his right to privacy. It was the son that started the whole thing. He had no right to record the father's private conversation and SELL it to the Enquirer or whomever. The son just wants to make some money. Unfortunately, he does not have the brains to earn his money with his own intelligence. He just had to do it in a mischievious way. Whatever goes on in your home regardless if you are a celebrity or the Smiths next door. That's your private business.
The son had no business putting out his father like that. The man is entitled to his own opinions about any issue. And he is not the first and most certainly won't be the last to have prejudice over any given race, Or curse at any one and name call.

SO THIS CRAP ABOUT "DOG" BEING PORTRAYED AS THE BAD GUY IS JUST STUPID AND POINTLESS.
PEOPLE GET OFFENDED OVER ANYTHING NOWADAYS.
Remember this..... there will be some people that care about you, there will be some people that will hate you and want to see you fail, and the rest don't care.... ITs LIfe!

At the end all that will matter is what you do with your life!

Last, I can understand those that fight for the cause such as Martin Luther King, jr. Because he was standing up against a nation wide ignorance such as inequalities and racial segragation. He was standing up against many.
Today people fingerpoint and make a spectacle over one person. If you are going to stand up for a cause it should be directed to the problem not a particular person.

(For starters, "cracker" is not equivalent to the "n" word. It sounds like you are trying to justify his use of the "n" word. That is not what someone in the American spotlight, especially a person who is doing good by the Lord's name after going through so much personal turmoil should be associated with. You sound like a fan of "Dog" so I want go into how good of a person he is. He made a mistake. He is not a racist. But don't try to justify what he did and say that Black people say it. We could argue about the use all day, but in the end the whole topic is full of ignorance. I am tired of hearing that it is not fair that a group of people (non-Black) cannot say a word. Why would you want to be associated with a word that would almost get you deemed as a racist? Do you want to call people this word or what? Are you saying that it is alright to call persons names in private? I question your status as a non-racist.) As for your question, I think that like most things in life it will pass. I was a very bad thing because most people will only look at what he said. Not the context, just the headline reading that "Dog - Crime Fighting Super Hero Used The "N" Word"

Or everyone should say it. I've argued that the word is just that. There are histories with all words. F.ag used to be a ciggarete, gay used to be happy, the rainbow was a sign the god loved the world. People give power to symbols, ideas, and words, because it was an emotional period. I remember listening to someone talk about being called a *******, I think it was Dick Gregory or James Brown, He was saying that was all he was known as at the time. He said in fact that be being called black was the inflammatory word. It is crazy to me that any one word is so powerful, that it can cause violence. I'm not saying white people are innocent, but allowing people to control, encite, shame or keep you from feeling like a human by saying a word is becoming tiring to me. Let's work on educating the kids, feeding the homeless, cut back on CO2 emmissions, fighting poverty........ There is so much more out there to worry about then some word or words.

I read the responses and I have to two things to say:

1) It was a private conversation, and even though I think his use of the N-word at anytime is deplorable, it shouldn't effect his show (which I don't watch) but A&E has pulled it. What's that have to do with his series?

2) I find the use of the term "cracker" just as offensive since it was(is) intended to be the equivalent of the N-word.

I must say that I agree with you on that. While I find that what he said to his son is ridiculous, he said it in private and I guess that he felt no one would hear it. It makes you wonder what type of relationship he had with his son, if his son is not only recording their conversation, but sold it to a tabloid magazine. Now, there are people that want his show canceled, even though I have never heard him say these racist remarks on the show. I think that we have gone to far in our politically correct society, that a man having a private conversation with his son, calls for his life on T.V to be over.

I don't think it was that big of a deal. i know no one should use that word. But it really was taken out of context. I think a lot of these people that are saying how bad it is say some thing at some point that could be considered racist.

I do totally agree with you!
He has done a lot of good!
But being in the position he is in, he really should have known better!
How did he know his own son would that though?
I personally think think the guy is maybe a bit of a rogue still, and his kids don't like it!
He might be a bit of a bully? Don't know about that either, but you never know!

I have to agree with you. This was a conversation between him and his son. It was no ones business but theirs. Isn't it illegal to record a private conversation anyway? Plus, he already apologized for using that term. People just need to mind their own business instead of recording the conversations. No one should use any racial slurs at all no matter what color they are.
