i can't put them down. i tried pulling the string in all directions but still no.

There should be 2 or three strings... pull up on them all at once at an angle to the side of the blind away from the windowcase, you should feel it kind of click, then let them down. Hope that works

there is a small wheel where the string goes in that locks it in place, pull the string to the left side while raising it, then let it down,
