I can easily answer this question, as I work at Mcdonalds. Mcdonalds starts serving lunch after 10 on weekdays and 11 on weekends. ( This might vary depending on your location) however during breakfast, the hashbrowns are made and displayed in the same place where the fries are, and the heating units that we store the cooked food in are only big enough to hold the breakfast eggs and meats. We cant serve both breakfast and lunch at the same time. You can put your order in a few minutes before breakfast ends, however they will make you wait a few minutes. There is nothing more annoying than when some guy comes through the drive through at 7 am and asks for a mcchicken and a large fry, or when someone asks for an egg mcmuffin at 4 pm. I hope i ansered your question

They do not serve Lunch until after 10:30am because they change-over the grill from breakfast food to lunchtime food.

In case you did not know, Sonic Drive-In sells burgers all day long.

It's just that they are only cooking breakfast things then and they don't have the lunch machine whatever things running. They should cook lunch but they just say don't start until like 11 or something.

If you notice, they don't hire the most intelligent people at McDonalds. I haven't been to a single McDonalds that has gotten my order correct, and I don't special order. I just get "special" people who wait on me. I think it would be too much to ask of them to cook non-breakfast items during their scheduled breakfast time. It would confuse them enough.
