No the myth busters ran a show on this very thing and ALL the paints failed to keep the camera from getting the number on the license plate.

Number Plate Spray

Not all cameras flash, so that argument doesn't hold water.

The paints don't work because modern digital imaging software recreates the numbers from the painted picture.

If your number plate is completely sprayed or had heavy enough paint to cover the characters you will be prosecuted anyway.
It is illegal to have an obscured or obstructed numberplate and you risk being charged by the first policeman that sees you and isn't doing anything more interesting.

A lot of people take chances with obscured number plates (paint. trailers or bicycle carriers). You'd be amazed by how many get a court summons "our of the blue".

Also, your chances of just being stopped for a spot check are higher. Because many policemen will be suspicious that someone who's trying to hide their numberplate may also be guilty of something else anyway.
If you're honest with yourself you'll agree that's probably true.

do number plate sprays work to beat speed cameras?

NONE of the products that supposedly conceal license plates from cameras work... NONE of them. This was proven by MythBusters.

Also, anything you might do to confuse, conceal or partially obstruct your plate could get you pulled over... defeating the purpose or a cop might decide to ticket you instead of someone else if he has a lesser reason to pull you over, like the plate.

Imagine two cars, both doing 70 in a 55 zone, but one has a foggy or darkened plate cover. Guess who will get pulled over?

Do nothing with your plate. Stick to groups of cars and be aware of what is going on in front of you and behind you as much as safely possible.

Or you could drive safely. I was caught speeding twice and did a speed awareness course. I learnt that just by going 32 miles hour can increase you stopping distance by quite a few metres, I can't remember exactly how many. Also if you hit someone at 30 mph they have an 80% chance of surviving, at 35 mph they have a 50% chance and at 40mph 10% chance of surviving. If your travelling at 30mph and crash in to a car that is also going at 30mph the impact of the crash is 60mph. If your going faster the impact is a lot more.

Many of the sprays don't work. If you have a 4x4 the best trick is to make the number plate so dirty it is not readable

You could try driving safe and not get flashed by the cameras but when you are on a empty road at 3 in the morning everyone speeds

The best way to beat a speed camera is not to be going too fast in the first place.

I hope not as I work as a medic and speed really does kill, I pick up the pieces when you hit somebody at 40mph rather than 30mph.
Be more responsible, believe it or not most cameras are there for a reason.

Not only do they not work that well, but they are just as illegal as plastic covers and deflectors. Cops can also spot the spray, and if they have time to pull you over, you get a ticket. The best way to avoid tickets is to learn how to drive.
