I don't remember the site now but some years back I signed up for a dvd player. Of course I had to participate in a sponsored offer in order to get it.
The offer was that I needed to apply for an American Express card and keep a balance of at least $100.00 for 30 days. They had a 0% offer for the life of a trasfered balance so I thought why not.
I transfered over a small charge I had. After the 30 days I sent in the notice for the free gift and low and behold about 3 weeks later I got a sony dvd player in the mail.
Now I don't know if this would work. I look at them now and they do require allot more participation than just one offer. I would ave up my money and just by whatever it is you wanted to get for free.

Of course there is free stuff out there. Not great big expensive free stuff, but stuff.
Such as MyPoints.com Answer a few surveys, click on some ads, maybe buy a few things, because they advertise for ebay and office depot and others, and you collect points to use for all sorts of gift cards, like gasoline or wal mart.
Homescan.com is another place that cranks out the free gifts for completing their purchaseing surveys, but it was tedious scanning everything you buy.
Freecycle.org is a place for people to give away stuff they dont want no more, instead of throwing it in the landfill. All sorts of stuff is given away, but don't ask for new expensive stuff or you will look like a cheap beggar

Yes there is, type in internet freebies in Google or whatever the search engine is, use McAfee SiteAdvisor to (so you don't just navigate into scam/phising.etc sites), there are free internet services (limited, can't easily be found and all that), not much is free but there are offers that do offer you free items in exchange for filling out surveys, personal information for market research (be sure to read privacy policies and disclaimers), but just don't type free money (or whatever that sounds not really realistic (unless it's like a gameshow)

The joke is on you. Open these sites, and all sorts of spyware and other junk rush into your computer.
Nothing is really "free."
