I would TALK to your doctor about it. Only take her in if he or she advises it. A baby can pick up an infection in the doctor's office. My doctor saw well babies in the morning and sick babies in the afternoon for this reason, and he had a filtering system he ran overnight. A lot depends on the nature of the cough. Does she cough up phlegm? Or is it a dry cough? What kind of climate do you have? A vaporizer MIGHT be a good idea (though cool mist would be better), but be sure you do NOT use menthol in it, because menthol actually dries out mucus membranes and can aggravate the problem. Vicks has menthol in it, so stay away from it. Does she have a fever? If so, definitely talk to your doctor right away. And regardless, talking to your doctor is probably a good idea, but be very cautious about letting him or her medicate your daughter. When a person first lies down, gravity causes mucus that has accumulated during the day to drain, so a person can have a cough for awhile after going to bed. It sounds like this is something slightly different, depending on whether your baby shifts position just before the coughing starts. You do want to rule out anything serious, but please keep in mind that lab tests aren't that reliable. Also, you might want to search out an herbalist in your area. You can get a diagnosis from the doctor first (if you can; sometimes we were never able to get a diagnosis) and that will help the herbalist know what to do. Since herbalists vary widely in experience and knowledge, be very careful whom you choose. Good luck with this!

You should schedule an appointment with your pediatrician as soon as possible. With a baby that young you should always be overreactive to illness. RSV is a serious lung problem that can develop in infants. My first born experienced this... luckily we caught it before hospitalization was required. Any illness that doesn't pass or causes a fever in a newborn should be called into the doctor. The nurse will generally advise you as to what is the best course of action.
It maybe nothing, but it could be something.... only a doctor can tell you. Better to look silly for overreacting than to let your child go a minute longer uncomfortable if something can be done to help her.
God bless little Myah. I hope she starts feeling better QUICKLY!

At 2 weeks old I would take her to the doctor...
It's flu and RSV season, and I'd hate for her to catch either one being so little...
Once you see a doctor and find out whats going on then there are a few things you can do...
1 - raise one side of her crib up a bit to keep her elevated...
(when we get sick sometimes we sleep sitting up, it's the same thing for them)
2 - purchase a COOL MIST humidifier for her room... it does wonders - some even allow for liquid vicks to be used along with the water...
Goodluck! Hope she feels better soon - and that you get some sleep!

surely no longer! Kittens are sparkling animals, comparable to the different puppy. which you would be waiting to would be capture a abdomen flu many times from the feces of the animal, however the tummy flu won't harm you. it is going to likely be in simple terms an disillusioned abdomen. additionally, you will desire to now no longer get sick, as i'm specific you have gotten a clutter field and sparkling, lined nest field or mattress for the recent mom? desire you do. and don't worry approximately getting illnesses or micro organism from an animal. Its type've hopeless to rigidity approximately those concerns.

She's probably congested, which most newborn babies are. You could try putting a wedge under the mattress to elevate her and also try using a vaporizer in her room. But, if you're still concerned, phone the doc in the morning.

she might be congested and when she lays down it drains into her throat which causes the coughing.
what i do is i put a pillow or fold up a blanket and stick it under one side of the crib so its a little tilt to it but not to high.
that way the mucus can drain better.
also if that does't work do that and put in a vaporizer in her room and that should help too.

Are you laying her on her back or stomach? If on her back she might be choking a little. Put her on her stomach or side and see if that helps. But for a two week old I would definitely call the doctor.

I'd take her in .
I would be sure to pick her up when she does that.
I have no idea what it is, but something like acid reflux? Milk coming back up? Or is the air dry in the room? Humidifier?
