So now what to do,,,,

We have been through the red paint, the silver paint, the mollasses escapades.....

Now he is bald all over his butt. This isn't rain rot, its being a brat and getting bit by the other mules. So now, he is really bald alllll over his hips and croup.

I'm sure its well deserved, he didn't earn the name " Ozzy Osbourne" by being an angel.

So what do you do, we have Denver Stock Show in 3 months, and he pulled this on me last year too, but it wasn't quite as bad.

He has white and black fur, is there something I can put on him to stop the others from play biting and taking fur chunks, or should I sheet him, what?

He always manages to do SOMETHING to himself right before a show, I was expecting paint again, but now..... he looks like Kojak across the back end.

Ideas??

Its ok PH, I needed a laugh too. Came home limping my truck with bad ball joints on a failed Colorado trip, to find that he went from slightly receding buttline to full blown bald.

Rogaine?? Thats a thought!!

TY Lisa on the dishsoap, he gets palmolived tomorrow!!!

Dishwashing liquid - we used to smother weanies and yearlings with it to stop them chewing on each other and it works great and still retains it's power even after rain. And we have never had any skin problems with it either.

He must have a tasty rump, lol, poor donk.

I'm with Lisa M on the dish soap, if you sheet him, they'll probably ruin his sheet, but you wouldn't have to rogaine his rump. If it were me, I'd tape toupees to him butt and let the judges have a head scratch over it, but we've already established I have no shame.

I'm sorry MR it is just a little funny. Thanks for making me smile.

EDIT: You know MR, if Corona or Palmolive don't work, and I think Corona is a great idea, it really does seem to help with hair regrowth, I say glue some cotton balls to his butt and tell the judges he has a skin condition. If they don't place you, you can shame them by going on about discrimination against sick donks. You can even spin a yarn about him being a rescue donk that you saved from pirates who were using him to plunder caribbean villages (I know how you found out about that WP saddle, don't lie) and his lost bum fur is from savage Caribbean tigers and the participants will go all mutineer on the judges, b/c everybody loves a rescue pirate donkey.

Hey there, Mule. Know what first popped into my head?

Vinegar.

Remember how our mothers used to put our fingers in white vinegar to keep us from sucking thumbs? B/c the taste was so nasty?

I wonder if pouring vinegar (and scrubbing it in) on his fanny would keep the other kids from nipping it. It works for human kids...

*shrug* just a thought.

If it doesn't work after 1 day, throw a sheet on him. The only problem with that is that sheets can rub the hair off, too, if they don't fit 100% -- which will only make your problem worse. :(

Maybe the vinegar will help!?

Mule I really have no idea what to tell you about your Donkey Soap Opera except atleast he is always good for laughs!!! I like Lisa m's idea and PH the cotton ball gimmick would be aWESOME!!!!!! lol You could completely shave him as low as you possibly can and tell the jusges that he is a rare mexican hairless donkey............. or if he gets a good fluffy coat , shave his back belly and legs leaving "poof balls" on his ankles , ears and tail..... tell them you thought it was a poodle class! lol man poor donkey. I know where I work we sell some stuff called bitter apple that keeps dogs from chewing.... maybe it would work on donks too????? Good luck and thnaks for the laughs!!!!! From what it sound slike he reminds me of Brutus in the ugly daschund!

Another alternative from dish soap is Corona. Not the beer, ointment LOL
It helps promote hair growth on top of it being a healing agent. I'd sheet him or put him with a nicer pasture mate about a month before the show if you could.

I like the dishsoap idea. Short of separating him from the others I'm stumped. I bet if you use a blanket they will tear it up, but you could try it.
