What do you mean by 'main events'?
If you mean historically significant events, my top three would be the Allies defeating Hitler and the rest of the Axis powers in World War II, the assassination of JFK, which turned a confident, prosperous nation into one that doubted its place as a positive force in the world (something it still suffers from), and America putting a man on the moon, which helped restore some of that confidence JFK had in America and Americans.
