Unfortunately, in my opinion, we will never be able to make that claim. This immoral war has been botched from the beginning, starting with an idiot president who lied to his people as a pretext for our invasion, to the handling of daily security and the lack of rebuilding what we have destroyed in the country. Our actions have earned us enemies around the world, and those who already hated us have yet another reason to.
There is no stability in Iraq, no "mission accomplished." Only carnage, chaos, and enmity.
We blew it, ladies and gentlemen...just like Vietnam. We still haven't learned, and as long as we continue to elect gun-slinging jingoist idiots like the current president to lead us, we never will.

I've asked that several times. Mr. Bush is not providing a plan so we can have something to look forward to, so how and when are we going to know it's time to come home?
Things change daily. Let's hope a new administration recognizes the chaos the US is creating in Iraq.

We still don't know what the mission WAS.
WMD? Nope
Threats? Nope
Democracy? Nope
I'll start counting for the day when it's accomplished when I find out what it is.

I believe it is a stable country with a freely elected government.
I understand that the concept is difficult for the average liberal to comprehend.
