And by 'winning', I mean that we are beginning to create an environment where we can rebuild Iraq into a fully functional, well ordered democracy. With less violence in Iraq, perhaps we can start to do this.

What do you think?

Well to be Frank...No
It's never going to happen...ever...seriously, there is zero chance that Iraq will become a peaceful democracy friendly to the U.S in the near future, no new general, no new plan and no troop surge is going to help unfortunately.

It is next to impossible to impose a form of government, regardless of if its good or bad and regardless if you had the best intentions in the world, on another nation, especially one with such a different culture.

The only way Iraq is going to become "peaceful" is by the U.S pulling out its troops and letting the Iraqi's figure it out.

Question..Why do "terrorist organizations" hate the United States...

Answer...Because we occupy there lands

Empathize a little...would you want the Chinese occupying Florida or Maine or Canada...would you not be a slightly angered?

Invading Iraq was the worst thing we possibly could have done...wake up people:)

Well, if that's part of your criteria, I don't know. I don't really think Iraq is ready for democracy. Now, please understand, democracy is great if the people can deal with it. With great freedom comes great responsibility.

You maybe know that much of the war in Iraq is _not_ between Americans and Iraqis, but a civil war between Iraqi factions.

Somehow -- I really didn't like Saddam, OK? -- but somehow, he managed to keep more peace with the dictatorship/monarchy method. Do I think a dictatorship is better? Heck no! But it might work better for some countries that are, how shall we say..."more volatile."

I think the install-democracy-in-Iraq idea had great intentions, was very knoble. But, 3 or 4 years after President Bush declared "mission accomplished" here we are, still mired in it. Why? Maybe because another 100 - 1000 years of evolving consciousness is needed for some places before democracy can work? I really don't know. Just, I wonder.

there is not any Taliban in Iraq, the USA went to conflict with Afghanistan over the Taliban attack on 9/11. The Iraq conflict ,in a nut-shell, changed into all started on pretend record that Saddam Hussein had guns of mass destruction and turned right into a seen a danger.

Get a General in there who wrote the manual on counterinsurgency and look what happens! The planning and execution of the war was flawless but both, including management of infrastructure rebuild, has been flawed during the exercise in nation building. It just takes the right person in the right job at the right time. (yes).

No, I don't think so, I think here 's the best idea: let all U.S soldiers back home ASAP, throw a heap of rubbish to that donkey shaped face and bad lucked Maliki. every American would have good sleeping at nights.
