Sure. It won't HELP anything and the only thing it will HURT is your pocketbook. Hightest gas is only NEEDED if you have a high compression engine, which the cavilier is NOT.

Safe? Sure, but why would you? It doesn't require the higher octane, so it would be a total waste of money. The only reason I would ever put super in my car would be no regular available when I was really low on gas. If you are using quality gasoline from any of the national brands, especially a top tier gas, there will be nothing in super that your engine will need that isn't already in regular.
Super is not better for your engine. You don't have to stick with one brand of gas. Some people find a brand that they think their car likes better. In 42 years of driving over a million and half miles, I have not found that. I usually use Co-Op or Shell, but use other brands if it is late at night and I am low, or I am travelling and filling up at convenient stations. None of my cars have ever had a problem mixing gasoline, but I don't buy el-cheapo no-name gasoline, either. If you don't normally use gasohol, run a tank of E10 once in a while, it will keep your system clean, and absorb any moisture, especially in winter.

You can put super in your car, but there is no advantage to doing so. You pay more for super, and you will actually get slightly worse gas mileage with it!
If is safe for your car! It is harmful to your finances! If you have money to throw away, I have a nice trash can here!!

You don't need to burn super, but if you do it *may* run a little better and have a little more power.
Supposedly, premium gas is better for your engine and it is best for your engine to stick to one brand of gasoline (a brand name gas)
