I saw the brief news report about how this poor, innocent little boy came all the way to Canada to get his face tumor removed. He was really excited about the operation, and what does Sick Kids do? They refused to perform the operation to remove his tumor.
Some broad from Sick Kids hospital said they would not do the operation because it isn't a tumor, it's just a birth mark.
It'll stop growing as soon as he stops growing.
I couldn't even believe what I just saw and heard!
Sick Kids Hospital is supposed to help all kids in need, and they turn him away!
Sick Kids Hospital sends out letters to people urging them to send their donations right away before a certain dead line, they also urge people to send their void cheques, credit card ,debit card numbers to have their donations automatically deducted from their bank accounts to help sick kids.
They turned away a kid in need.
I will never, ever send them another donation check ever again!
They betrayed what they preached!

If you go to the beginning of yahoo you'll see the actual report on this story of Son Pham.
Rebirth?
What's the point in donating to a hospital if they WON'T even use that money for something as needed such as Son Pham's facial tumor?
Sick Kids collect donations from people to perform these expensive operations, they aren't supposed to turn kids like Son Pham AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have read all of the replies here and am very glad that this story is being heard world wide. I have a few things I would like to say about the issue. First off I am a 17 year old who has been to Sick Kids with a similar problem to Son Pham. I have an Arterial Venous Malformation in my right hand, which falls into the category of Vascular Malformations. Son Pham has a vascular malformation, it is NOT a birthmark and going without treatment is not an option. I was told similar things when I was sent to Sick Kids, the doctors decided to wait and see how things went and told me it would stop growing when I did. After 9 years of knowing what my problem is still nothing has been done. Instead SickKids sent me else where because they could not (or didn't want to) deal with my problem. The treatment for any problem of this nature is not simple. It requires multiple treatments but saying that Son Pham would be better not having treatment is an outrageous comment. Yes treatment would have its risks, ANY surgery has risks!! Son Phams malformation treated by the right doctors could drastically improved his appearance and his quality of life. I again am so glad that people everywhere have concern over this story and hope that more people will continue to hear about it.

I'll bet if he was of some other nationality they wouldn't even think twice about it. How many operations have been performed on conjoined twins from every country in the world? And these are kids from developing nations who are impoverished, yet the U.S. footed the bill, or part of it.
Son Pham's parents probably died on fishing rafts or in the Vietnam War. Every year at least 2,000 Vietnamese adults perish that way in the floods, working to export anchovies and fish sauce to Thai restaurants all over the world (their primary export).
And, according to one article, the kids in these orphanages have deformities owing to chemical warfare during the Vietnam War, where the main culprit is AGENT ORANGE, a de-foliant used to minimize foliage and to thwart camouflaging. These orphaned children are paying the price for a senseless war of political ideologies. This child is not a malformed freak of nature, it was a man-made chemical mutation that caused it.
Please remember these orphans if you patronize Vietnamese or Thai restaurants. Have a heart...you would take your dog or cat to the vet for surgery if he had a tumor. Don't tell me a human being isn't worth it. After all, it is Humans that built the computer, printer and modem you're using and the higher standard of living you're now used to.

Any money it is still from the money raised to convey Son Pham to Canada would be placed in the direction of his education or the Hai Duong orphanage, his former residing house. lots of the seven-hundred orphans who stay there are deformed or disabled third-technology sufferers of AGENT ORANGE, a chemical de-foliant used throughout the Vietnam conflict, which extremely became the 1st demonstration of Chemical conflict. regrettably, it extremely is the youngsters who pay dearly for the ravages of a mindless conflict approximately political ideologies. This newborn isn't a malformed freak of nature, it became a chemical mutation that brought about it. Fucoidan, an extract of seaweed would in all possibility give up the tumor from becoming and in all possibility decrease it. Anita Mui, a famous singer from Hong Kong who gave up the ghost, became a substantial contributor to the ill teenagers wellbeing center. So why they grew to become him away is previous me. pass discern, perchance because of the fact he isn't a Canadian. yet he's a man or woman.

You're being hysterical and irrational. I don't think you even bothered to fully read up on this
"After spending two months reviewing all of the results of Son’s medical tests and after looking at all possible treatments and outcomes, the medical review team at SickKids has concluded that it is in Son’s best interest to not receive any treatment. This is a case where the treatment would be worse than the condition itself."
I'm not the first person to direct your attention to this. Maybe it's time to admit that maybe you were wrong, maybe you don't know better than the medical professionals who made the decision. It really looks like you're just being stubborn.

Hard as it may be to see him, this little boy does have a family now. I wonder how big this birthmark will be when he stops growing. I thought they could use lasers to shrink these things. I saw something similar on Discovery Health Channel, and the child's life and appearance were much improved.
I'm sure SKH wasn't being nasty. Please don't stop your support of them or else support the Children's Bridge Foundation.

Maybe you didn't catch the entire report. With birthmarks, it is usually better to wait until the child is grown to attempt removal because, as the spokeswoman said, (by default) it keeps growing as long as the child keeps growing. As long as it is not inhibiting vision, respiration, or nutrition (eating), it is better to leave it alone for now.
