Maybe people are just too much like sheep and are afraid to speak the 'real' truth? People are too swamped in tradition and woe betide anyone who challenges that!

It has always been my belief that the poppy day money went to widows of soldiers killed in action,it was to help the widows and children of these lads if it was needed.

As there are still wars going on with our soldiers at the front, this still applies,it has got nothing at all to do with the government and is run by S.A.F.A.who will help in any emergency a widow with children, this can happen when a soldier is killed and it takes weeks for a war pension to materialise.

You can look SAFA up on the internet, anyone questioning poppy day will meet aggression for the simple reason,it may be 60 years ago since the last world war but a lot of people who are still alive had grandads who died before they reached 25,and they are still heroes, can you see the youth of today going to war for their country?

Yes it is aggressive but you don't know this person's back ground could they be a soldier just returned from a duty or have an elderly relative who is still traumatised by a war they fought in so just skim over it and read the other more politely answered ones.

I do not know, but it makes you wonder why the in world people like Martin Luther King and Gandie who lived by a code of pacifism have died violent deaths.

Isn't it obvious? pacifism can be contrary to many peoples beliefs and in adhering to a pacifist perspective you are challenging some deeply held and cherished beliefs.
