Oh, yeah, crocs and alligators get big around like a hog and long. They bite and twist to break it off. Maybe they might save your arm for later.

They have a very strong down bite and sharp teeth. The opening of their jaws isn't so great and often when they're being removed from an area, their mouth will be taped shut to prevent them from harming anyone.

so The answer would be a yes and no I'm afraid, the way a crocodiles jaws work mean that the force at which it would bite down on your arm would be more than enough to shatter the bones in your arm but it wouldn't come of in one bite. Crocodiles feed by tearing chunks of flesh off by biting onto there prey and then spinning thus tearing chunks of flesh off. so for a crocodile to bite your arm of it would have to bite down then spin and tear it off. So a crocodile couldn't bite your arm off in one bite but it could tear it off.

yeah...if you are stupid enough to put it in the crocodile's mouth.

other options are:

> you are swimming, and the crocodile thought you are food, so bites off one of your arms.
> you are sleeping my the river bank with your arm in the water, so a crocodile bites it off

Easily, especially if it is fully grown!
They have big mouths and powerful jaws!
They could easily bite you in half, never mind a limb off!
They can jump out of the water and move fast on land, never mind in the water!
My advice is keep out of their way, they can't be reasoned with!

No it could not bite your arm off,but it could grip your arm in its mouth,do a spin and tore it off. They only have power in the lower jaw.Thats why they spin, you must have seen this in nature films.

I believe it is crocodiles that spin around their prey, so if it spun when it had bitten your arm it may be able to rip it off.
