Absolutely not! I tip for service, and tip well, but I do not consider a counter clerk or sandwich maker to be "serving" me. They are just doing their job.
Service requires them to bring me my food, provide drink refills and such. They do none of that!!

No... people who get tips at a resturant and are waitresses depend on that extra money because they get paid less than anyone else...> The subway girl is getting paid at least 5.80 where as the waitress is getting paid like 3.80 that makes your tip important to make up the difference.... Tip cups are corny and stupid, if the wanted to get paid more than get your boss to pay you more, you are technically making the minimum wage that is supposed to keep everyone else alive.... do you tip your checkout girl at Walmart?

The only place I tip at is this drive-thru Mexican place, but only because I go there ALL the time, and I am familiar with the employees.
Screw Subway. I used to work there when I was 16 and I never got any tips.

NO! In order to get your tip you need to earn it, by taking my order, bringing my food (correctly), taking away dirty plates in a timely manner, refilling my cup before it runs out, and most of all having a good attitude. You do not get a tip just because you put my food in the McDOnald's bag that you are paid to do.

If I go there a lot, I'll tip them when I can. Since I'm a student and I'm at Starbucks a lot, I'll give them a dollar tip each week or couple of days. Otherwise, no, I don't tip the burn out working at Jimmy Johns.

No, you are not required. It is a courtesy.
If you have lots special requests, then I think a tip will worth you a while, because they remember you.
For example, if you always like some hot sauce with your chinese carryout, then the lady might remember to put some hot sauce for you before you ask.

When I go in to those places, I ask myself what would I expect if I were working for $6 an hour? A tip no matter how small is greatly appreciated by these workers. Many are students who are working themselves through school. Many times, the people working there hold down two jobs just to survive.

Not usually because they are already paid to do their jobs. It's not like here at my physical therapy office I can put a cup out to get more money. They really should not be allowed to do that. If they don't like how much they get paid then they should look for another job!!!

sometimes, if my order is really big I might put in a dollar. If it is something small I sometimes just put in the change. They are making more than waitress salary(2.13) but, they still get paid minium. It also depends on the attitude of the person.
