We all know how low their approval ratings were before 9/11 and we know they failed to stop the attack (claiming incompetence) and we know how well the government made out with getting more funding to fight terrorism and getting into two profitable wars, so what makes you think they will stop the next attack when they want to go into Iran?

I wouldn't be surprised if they'd stage one and have it all planned so they can look like they're solving the problem.

So your claim is that going to war will raise their approval ratings? More like lowers them. And that war increases the income coming into the gov coffers without tax hikes? It's called a deficit. Those questions make absolutely no sense at all.

And finally, why Stop the next attack? I wish you would think just a little before asking something like this. Domestic attacks are not needed to justify "going in".

I think the United States government and counter terrorism operations have prevented numerous amount of attacks, some that we aren't even aware of.

The government will continue to do its job despite their low approval rating. And someone mentioned that attacking Iran would lower the approval rating even more. So true.

But sometimes, reputation isn't always key.

If they cared so much about public opinion they would stop sneaking around with free trade policies, NAFTA, LAFTA and the entire globalization and immigration issues and speak more openly but instead our officials pretend they are all separate issues and manipulate the public according to those separate issues. They will do the same with the war, terrorism, homeland security and port security.

They will stop it (just as they haved stopped several in the past) because no matter what some bogus "poll" says its the duty of the Government to protect its citizens.

How ever hard it is tell themselves no. If they could just realize they won't get to the pearly gates by attacking their own people. And that no amount of money or power is worth the loss of a life.
