They are annuals ... They die -off before the frost ... they do drop seed but it might be mistaken for weeds in the late spring when they do grow. Nice flower for mid-back of the garden. I'm in Zone 6.

Cosmos are annuals, but you can use the dried flowers as seeds for the next year (s).

Cosmos is the name of the street in El Paso that my kindergarten teacher lived and it was there every year and still is to this day, so I would have to say they are perennials.

They are annuals but will reseed themselves quite easily.

It depends on where you live. In a warmer climate they will come back.
