I am thinking about adding another middle name to my name. My name is Jaime Darlene. Darlene is my mom's name, so Im named after her. Thats why she did it. The name is ok, and I do like that I have for sentimental reasons so I would keep it because of that . Although, I dont like how it sounds with Jaime. I was thinking about adding Lynn after my name and being Jaime Lynn instead.....Jaime Lynn Darlene as my full name. I have heard of others with the name Jaime Lynn before, such as brittany spears sister and I think it sounds cute. Jaime Lynn is sort of two names as one name...so maybe I would have to kind of change my first name to have that. I am not sure how it needs to be done legally but I would like to do this. Do you think I should change it? Do you like Jaime Lynn better than just Jaime? Let me know your thoughts on this. Thanks.

P.S. Sorry if Im in the wrong catagory for this. I wasnt sure which one to put it in.

I think the difference between Jaime Darlene and Jaime Lynn Darlene is slight, and not enough to justify the effort of a legal name change.

If you can convince your friends to call you Jaime Lynn, you might try it out.

I legally changed my name in my late 20s, and never regretted it. But I lived with the name as a nickname of sorts for nearly a decade before I made it official. In theory, you don't need a court order to change your name in most states. In practice, I found it was a headache without one.

I had a lawyer-friend do the paperwork and still spent a few hundred bucks on required legal fees, so it's not cheap, either.

Other nicknames you might consider:

Jade (JAime DarlenE)
James/Jameson (In some languages, nicknames actually involving lengthening the given name)
Jaye or Jaie (The shortest short possible - kind of tomboy cool)

Good luck!

Not many people know, much less use your middle name. If you want people to call you Jamie Lynn instead of just Jamie then I think you should hyphenate your first name rather than adding it as a middle name. Make it Jamie-Lynn Darlene.

If you feel better with the name change then go for it. Yea I could see how you could feel that there is two names. by adding lynn there seems to be a nice break in the middle.

When I tried to renew my passport they wouldn't let me, because my previous passport was in the name of Butler-Portlock, (a lovely addition from my mother's previous marriage)
However my birth certificate still said Butler, but this apparently wasn't good enough.
Even though my name was never legally changed they wanted me to PAY to get a a bit of paper to say that my name was my name!
I had to do this through the magistrates court which cost about £16 I think? but they ended up spelling my name wrong.
So I ended up going to a solicitors who wrote a statutory declaration for me which only cost me £5 but I had to prove that the name Butler-Portlock hadn't been used by for me for a particular amount of time.
I don't know if you could just add the Lynn in yourself and use it and then get it declared.
Your best bet is probably visiting your local citizens advise bureau
Hope this helps a bit x

I don't think you should. How often will you be introducing yourself including your middle name??? "Hi, I'm Jamie Darlene"??? Does it really matter what your middle name is on a daily basis? If you think it does change your name. But I think you should stick with the name you were born with.
Hope this helps!!!
P.S. The category is okay, it's all related based on names.

I think you should go for it.

Especially if it is how you identify yourself. There's no use having a name you don't identify with.

I used to know a guy called 'Anthoney' and he HATED the name, but wouldn't change it because he didn't want to offend his mum, so he just referred to himself as 'Jim' and we were never allowed to use Anthoney. Or he'd get really aggressive about it.

Names mean a lot to a person, so go with what you feel best with. It's no-ones opinion but your own that matters.
