the UK online pharmacy where I order other precription meds has some info on it, but I never used it myself. As far as I have heard it is a strong med and should be taken only after consulting a doc.

Nexium does not treat the CAUSE of acid reflux. Stomach acid is vital for proper digestion and absorption of vital nutrients and for preventing the growth of bacteria in the upper part of the digestive tract. This drug (and others like it) are well documented to cause potentially serious side-effects, including:
1) Vitamin B12 deficiency (from malabsorption
2) Calcium, Zinc, and other essential mineral malabsorptions
3) Bacterial Overgrowth in the small intestine (SIBO).

You may want to look for a doctor that will work with you to find and fix the cause of your acid problem, rather than blocking the symptom with this dangerous category of drugs.

Best wishes and good luck.

My wife has been on Nexium for years now and I has probably saved her life. She was diagnosed as pre-cancer of the throat and the doctor switched her to Nexium and now her throat is clear (3 years later)

It is expensive and if you have insurance you may have to argue to have them pay (they would rather you take a different less expensive drug).

You can also get Nexium in its generic form Esomeprazole for 50 cents a pill if you buy online from the site below (which we have been using with great success)

Yes!! It's MAGIC. Normally I hate big pharma drugs, but this one really works without side effects. Not cheap but. About
$3.00 per day. I did recommend to some of my mates [heavy alco's] and they not spewing any more the day after. So it's pretty universal. First try 20 strenght than 40 if no help will come.

I actually take prevacid which is another proton-pump inhibitor where the medication keeps the gastric juices from splashing up into the esophagus. Nexium, prilosec (available otc) and protonex are also pp inhibitors. For me, prevacid helps me better between that one and nexium. My mother, however, prefers nexium so it may depend on the person's chemistry and make-up. Please do talk with your dr about it. He or she may want to refer you to a gastroenterologist (GI) dr to rule out other things.
