While driving, do you keep an eye on the cars/traffic behind you (using the rear-view mirror). Or do you not care what's there? Either way....why. Enlighten us.

BTW, I do. I pretty much scan everything while I'm driving. What's in front of me, either side of me, in any of the mirrors, behind me, and even comming toward me (even on a divided highway). My dad was (at one time) a professional long-distance truck driver, and that's the way he taught me to drive. (I'm too supersticious to share my driving record)

Anyway....I'm just curious about you all.

Yeah, I drive much the same way you do, and it's served me well. Obviously I'm not going to focus on the stuff behind me when my attention is needed up front, but when I'm just rolling along, I scan all sides. I was always taught to "watch out for the other guy" when driving. It's useful to know what the people around you are doing.

I'm not too superstitious to share my driving record... I've been driving about 10 years now with only one minor accident, and it was the other guy's fault. No tickets, never been pulled over, nothing.

I do watch everything around me. The ones following these days have their attention on their cell phones and I don't want them to run into me. I have had only two accidents in over 50 years of driving. Neither was in any way my fault. I always try to give myself plenty of room which helps a lot I think.

yes I do. And to the side, etc. I also keep at least two car lengths per 10 mph in front of me. Call me cautious, but I've had too many accidents not to. I also drive like a grandmother in winter.

I watch everything. Sometimes I'm looking in the rear-view mirror so long I amaze myself at being about to be in control of the vehicle and not crashing or anything. lol

i keep an eye what is around me yes, too many crazy drivers out there to not pay attention to what is happening. i do sometimes like to watch the people when stopped at a light, or if we are stuck behind someone and the people are getting mad behind me, i just shake my head and laugh. nothing you can do about it, why get so mad!

Yeah I do.
Especially when I'm stopping at a light. What if someone isn't paying attention at all and rear ends me?!? I'd like to know that that's whats going to happen ahead of time.

And I also look to make sure no one's tailgating me. I HATE people who do that

I usually keep on eye on both rear view and side view mirrors...defensive driving.

I don't drive, but I am sure of this...

my dad doesn't care

my sister can't remove her eyes from the mirror

Absolutely, I keep an eagle eye on my rear view mirror. I can't stand it when someone sits on my bumper or tries to "push" me.
